Swing Dancing Banned!

From the Nottingham Evening Post, Friday, November 19, 1937:

Swing Dancing Banned

The regular rhythm of swing dancing has caused the Hindmarsh Town Hall at Adelaide, South Australia, to vibrate so alarmingly that swing music has now been banned

The Town Clerk said he felt the whole hall shudder when a swing dance was in progress, and he was afraid it would reach a pitch that it would collapse.

I assume the town hall in question is this rather fabulous Art Deco style building (Image by David Thompson):

Must have been one hell of dance to make that building shudder!

I am very curious to know how a story about a swing dance being banned in, what I assume is small town in South Australia, made it into the pages of English provincial town newspaper!
